I just had a revelation! I have been avoiding soy as best I can, along with dairy and gluten and excessive grains. HOwever, some of the oils I use, including safflower and sunflower have tocopherols added (Vitamin E). Doesnt that most certainly mean SOY?! ANy idea on this? Spectrum's oils do not have this added but are more expensive and I returned to the less expensive oils over this past year.
It's possible that added vitamin E could theoretically come from soy...but those oils are already pretty darn good sources of vit E- there's no need to fortify or enrich, which would be the proper term. Added vitamin E would not contain the protein from soy, which would cause the immune response- only the E esters. Most foods with fortified vitamin E are synthetic (cheaper & more stable) don't ask me how they make it but they do.
