I am 45 years old and have been suffering from extreme PMDD for the past 6 months. I've also gained 15 pounds over the last two years. Clearly my body is changing, maybe even heading toward peri-menopause. When I saw my OB this summer, she wasn't very helpful. She prescribed me fluoxetine (Prozac) for my PMDD because I asked, but she offered zero advice for how to manage the changes going on in my body. I've taken 10 mg nightly since August, but my November PMDD was as bad as ever, and I'm afraid the meds are contributing to my weight gain. Two nights ago, I started weaning myself off the Fluoxetine. Maybe I'll take it during my luteal phase, but I think I need to better understand my nutrition and the root causes of my PMDD.

I have been fit and an athlete all my life, and I still exercise (but not as frequently and intensely as I used to due to age-related aches and pains, as well as a serious concussion I suffered two years ago). But one thing I have never been able to do is STAY ON A DIET. For one, I don't like complicated recipes, but I like flavorful food. Two, I don't have much time to shop and cook because of my job and my family. I hope the recipes in the workbook are manageable for me.

I spent hours online over the last two days looking for PMDD specialists or wellness coaches near where I live in NJ. On a desperate whim, I signed up for this program because I need coaching from someone who really understands PMDD and also an easy-to-follow meal plan. Fingers crossed!

Welcome to the Cycle Diet Laurie Anne,

I look forward to talking with you. Please let me know when a good time to talk will be. And, thank you for signing up. I'm very glad to hear you are weaning off the fluoxetine. There are several options for the Cycle Diet you can choose from and of course we will work on what works best for you. There are mostly easy recipes, but I will always try to challenge your cooking skills. The better your skills the better off you and your family will be. After saying that, there are some really good, and convenient foods available on market.

Please call me anytime, or shoot me an email so we can set up a time to chat.

All the best,

Debra
